7:47 PM

its been 3-4 consecutive days that i spent my after work hours at bugis and then simei. thanks to the best friend who has been pestering to get some stuff at arab st, or sudden cravings for delifrance and tong seng. all in all, its been fantastic and sweet. we had early dinner at delifrance once, then had the sudden urge to chill at starbucks simei again, so we took the train to simei and then at starbucks we had the warm choco cake plus long john plus bubble tea. during that particular day, i met this elderly lady who was the most gorgeous i must say. she had such natural beauty and jokes aside, even with that wrinkly face, anyone could tell she must have been damn hot during her younger years.

it started pouring lightly and i saw her walking towards the bus stop with a man of her age. i was literally occupying the whole stretch of seats at the bus stop, so i moved my fat ass to the leftest side to make way for her and the man to sit. the smile carved on her face was like no other. she sat beside me and put her hand around and said in very broken malay,

"waa lu manyak baik lorr. zaman skarang ar, itu budak2 semuer tak ader otak, tak ader hati punyer. kalau tengok orang tua mcm saya haa, dorang tunjuk muker tak suker punyer"

translation: im very nice. kids these days do not have the brains and hearts. if they see someone old like me, they would usually pull a long face"

and then she started ranting about her past life, every other old person in this world does that, telling me of her husbands death which was very recent, specifically 10 days ago. i felt uneasy because i mean, the person she's been with her entire life, just left her and from the lingo of how she told the story, the vow "till death do us part" suddenly makes sense.

and apparently the man she was with is her husbands brother. it was really touching to see all that. and when the bus came, the brother-inlaw actually sheltered her from the VERY LIGHT DRIZZLE with a trigantic cardboard, making sure the drops of water fall on me instead of her. how sweet. so we took the same bus but i sat at the back. then i saw her started talking to another guy, chinese, probably telling him the same thing she told me.

when the bus was approaching my stop, i was contemplating between saying bye to her or just walking away.

knowing myself, i culdnt let such a short but beautiful friendship be left hanging, i sriously hate it u noe, at least say bye la kan, so i walked up to the front of the bus where she was seated and bid goodbye. she reached out to my hand, held on tight and wished me all the best in life. and for a moment, i felt so loved by a stranger.
